Phil Cuneo founded Synergo in 2004 and serves as Chairman of the Investment Committee and CEO of the Firm.
One of Italy’s most distinguished businessmen and entrepreneurs, Phil Cuneo has started and built several successful businesses. In the early 1970s he was associated with the Italian office of McKinsey & Company since its inception and eventually became its Managing Director. In 1989, he founded Bain-Cuneo e Associati, one of the largest top management consulting companies in Italy. In the early 1990s he co-founded Investitori Associati, one of the most successful private equity firms in Italy. Since 2004, Phil has been solely focused on Synergo’s investment activities.
Phil graduated in Business Administration (summa cum laude) from Genoa University and holds an M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh.
Alessandra Gavirati joined Synergo in 2012. Prior to that, Alessandra was a partner at BS Private Equity, where she led a number of transactions across various sectors. Before joining BS, she served at Sopaf Private Equity for five years initially as a Controller and then as a Senior Analyst in the private equity investment group.
Alessandra graduated in Economics from Bocconi University in Milan.
Giovanni Guglielmi joined Synergo in 2006. Prior to that, he worked in the corporate finance/M&A team of UniCredit Markets & Investment Banking (formerly UBM).
Giovanni graduated (summa cum laude) in Business Administration from Bocconi University and holds a M.Sc. in Business Administration and Corporate Finance (summa cum laude) from Bocconi Graduate School, with an Exchange Program at the Carlson School of Business – University of Minnesota.
Francesca Rena joined Synergo in 2015. Prior to that, Francesca worked for three years in the Corporate Finance team of J.P. Morgan in Milan and Paris where she was involved in a number of national and cross-border transactions. Before joining J.P. Morgan, Francesca briefly worked in Paris for Hawkpoint, an M&A boutique firm.
Francesca holds a Diplôme Grande Ecole from ESCP Europe, a M.Sc. in Management from London City University, and a M.Sc. in Business Administration (summa cum laude) from University of Turin.
Rossano Rufini joined Synergo in 2005. Rossano boasts over 20 years of professional experience mostly spent in the private equity industry where he was actively involved in a number of transactions across a wide spectrum of industries. Prior to this, he was a member of the corporate finance team at Dresdner Kleinwort’s Investment Banking Department. He also served PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Management Consulting arm and Arthur Andersen, where he started his career, as an Auditor and Financial Consultant.
Rossano graduated in Business Administration (summa cum laude) from Rome University LUISS Guido Carli and is a Certified Public Accountant and Qualified Auditor. Rossano has been also Lieutenant of the Italian Air Force.
Fabrizio Tria joined Synergo in 2015 from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he was an associate in the Investment Banking department.
Fabrizio holds a BEng in Technology and International Business from Politecnico di Torino (summa cum laude), a MSc in Finance from Università Bocconi (summa cum laude), and a Higher Certificate in Business (with distinction) from the Athlone Institute of Technology (Ireland).
